It is my pleasure to write the following few views and my personal experience with regards to Mr Kosuge From the my very first appointment and to my current one, Mr Kosuge has been completely through, honest and very clear when explaining what to expect before, during and after my knee operation. The operation experience was excellent, and I am now able to resume my healthy life and continue with task / activities that I was unable to do due to my knee problems. I cannot thank Mr Kosuge enough. Thank you.

I was referred by the NHS for knee replacement surgery. From my first contact, Mr Kosuge, was interested in what I had to say, extremely informative and very reassuring, despite clearly outlining all the risks. He advised me on how to prepare for surgery for maximum recovery and what I would need to do after. The surgery went well and I was walking comfortably the first evening. I only needed to stay for 2 nights. I followed the physio instructions fully and now a year on am fully fit, hillwalking and cycling and I managed some skiing. Throughout my recovery, Mr Kosuge has sent me emails to monitor my recovery. I would not want to go to anyone else should my other knee need surgery.

Mr. Kosage gave me a new right Knee replacement last May and it has been a success. he was very thorough about my symptons before operating and the pre-op and post-op treatment very good. I found that Mr. Kosage explained everything very carefully and gave me confidence in him, also I felt he was interested in me as a person. The operating staff were all very friendly and put me at ease in the operating theatre. The ward staff were caring and efficient although being busy and my appointments went well with no problems. At my final appointment last Monday for my right knee Mr Kosage took the time to look at my other knee as I was having Problems, I had X-ray and he then discussed future treatment told me to see him in 3-4 months, so I feel I am still in the system if treatment is needed. I can't find anything particularly to improve but maybe a more comfortable waiting area for orthopaedics. I have been very satisfied with my Treatment.

I would recommend Mr Kosuge to any one that I new was having Knee trouble. When I went to see him I was in a lot of pain with my knee and I had given up walking, doing keep fit not being able to do a lot in the garden and had to have the weekly shop delivered as I could not manage to shop for it . When I went to see Mr Kosuge I was very apprehensive about having my knee done as I has heard some bad stories about knee replacement. Mr Kosuge listened to everything I had to say and he answered all my questions so I fully understood what he would be doing also he explained the importance of building my muscles up before and after the op. I can honestly say that I had absolute trust in him when I walked out of the surgery. I did all what I was told to do with the exercises before and after the op and within ten days I was walking about without any crutches or walking stick. I am now able to go walking do keepfit once a week go shopping do gardening and I am in no pain there is nothing I cant do now . Trusting Mr Kosuge to do the op has completely changed my life.

Profile

Mr Kosuge developed his passion for Trauma & Orthopaedics as a junior doctor and pursued this by enrolling onto the North-East Thames Percival Pott Orthopaedic Training Programme. His training took him to prestigious centres including The Royal London Hospital, The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. He was inspired by a number of his excellent trainers to focus on the subspecialty of hip and knee joint replacements.

Following completion of specialist training in the United Kingdom, he enrolled onto and successfully completed a one-year fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia under the auspices of Professor Donald Howie. This fellowship allowed Mr Kosuge to refine his skills in hip and knee joint replacements, as well as revision hip replacements. During his orthopaedic training, he was the recipient of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Zimmer Adult Reconstruction Hips and Knees Fellowship in 2014, the AOTrauma Fellowship in 2013 and the Tohoku University Orthopaedic Visiting Fellowship in 2010 – and utilised his time visiting, learning and exchanging ideas with centres of excellence in Japan.
